Each gallery is a hexagon. Four of its six walls carry five shelves, each shelf holds thirty-two books, and every book has 410 pages of forty lines of about eighty symbols. The symbols are twenty-two letters, the space, the comma and the period, so every possible page exists somewhere, including the one that says what time it is.
The library has no digits, so the time has to be spelled out. This clock's twenty-two letters leave out b, j, q and z, which no hour needs (the hour after midnight is nought). Each second the sentence is looked up: its words alone fix the hexagon, wall, shelf, volume, page and line, so a given second always returns to the same shelf, and the rest of the page is the gibberish that fills almost every book.
La Biblioteca es ilimitada y periódica.
