Art 10

Colour, coordinate and concept clocks.

XYZ Clock Hours, minutes and seconds read as x, y and z inside a wireframe cube, trailing the last twelve hours behind the marker. HSV Clock The time as one colour: hours turn the hue through the full spectrum twice a day, minutes set its brightness, seconds its saturation. Spectrum Clock Hour, minute and second each given their own hue, stacked as bands that slide through the spectrum at their own pace. Word Clock A grid of letters that lights only the words it needs, reading the time aloud in English to the nearest five minutes. Polar Clock Hours, minutes and seconds as nested arcs, each sweeping its ring to a close before snapping back to nothing. Bach Clock A barrel organ engraved with the subject of The Art of Fugue. Three voices read the same twelve notes at one per second, per minute and per hour, so the clock's own 1:60:720 ratio becomes a canon by augmentation, and on the hour it plays B flat, A, C, B natural. Eames / Nelson Ball A faithful CSS recreation of George Nelson's iconic mid-century modern atomic ball clock. Prehistoric Deep Time A conceptual simulation of pre-human deep time. Read the time by tracking beautiful calcified text fossils as they are slowly buried beneath layers of falling sediment. Coordinate Clock Assign Y, Mo, D, H, Mi, S to coordinate axes and plot time as a point in Cartesian, Polar, Parabolic, Elliptic, Cylindrical, or Spherical space. DSL Clock A clock you program. A tiny language with its own tokenizer, parser and evaluator decides the text, colour, scale and spin on every frame, and the syntax tree of whatever you type is drawn beside it. Glitch Clock Digits torn into cyan and magenta channels, shivering apart and snapping back on a nervous loop.
